2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:

- Authenticate your identity and protect your account;
- Send you transactional messages such as verification codes and billing notices;
- Understand usage patterns and improve Slate's features;
- Respond to your support requests;

We do not sell your personal information or your contacts' information to third parties.
3. Information Sharing
We share information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers. We engage third-party vendors to help operate Slate, including SMS delivery providers (to send verification codes), cloud infrastructure providers (to host and store data), and PostHog (for product analytics). These providers are contractually restricted to using your information only as necessary to provide services to us.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, or government request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Fian, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers. If Fian is acquired, merges with another company, or sells substantially all of its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you in advance of any such change.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account and contact data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or legitimate business purposes (such as fraud prevention or financial record-keeping).
Aggregated, anonymized analytics data may be retained indefinitely.

6. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. However, no internet-based service can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.
7. Children's Privacy

By providing your phone number, you consent to receive SMS messages from Slate for authentication and account-related notifications. These messages are transactional; you will not receive marketing messages via SMS. Standard carrier messaging and data rates may apply. You may request removal from SMS communications by contacting us, though doing so will prevent you from logging in.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you by email or through the service. Your continued use of Slate after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
